STI Thoughrobred

I took the STI .45 Thoroughbred in on trade from an elderly wealthy fella here in NWA many, many years ago. He never shot it. I assigned it a trade value back then of $4,500. I think it’s worth a lot more than that now with these kind of guns going for crazy money these days w/o the STI history and Chip McCormick provenance. The CM on frame indicated this specific piece relicts Chip’s personal touch on this specific STI. These initials are unique to how his expectations are different from other, even very similar, STI’s, such as his desire for the obviously wider dust cover preferences etc (plus it’s just so darn sexy like Eleanore in gone in 60 seconds). Chip’s hand lapping standards and very personal  manufacturing personality is in this gun. Very few guns were ever made and didn’t leave the shop w/o him ensuring it met his standards. Chip was so instrumental and innovative in his gunsmithing genius and art with mags he’ll go down as one of the all time greatest in his specific manufacturing requirements in STI. It’s why (CMC) Chip McCormic Corp, being so technically proficient and respected CMC was acquired by Wilson Combat! Thus, it’s an authentic legacy piece of history when his collaboration with Sandy Strayer & Virgil Tripp (STI) had true brilliance under one roof. Then became Stacatto. Strayer became Strayer Voight & Trip to Tripp Research. All legends but Chip was the humble brains who didn’t want his name on STI as a founder. Like the Eagles band: Glen Fry, Don Henley, Joe Walsh they all came together at one time to be great. I don’t know of another which exists in its true virgin form that hasn’t been used and abused or heavily modified. Other than the Thoroughbred carry bag fraying slightly I think it’s amazing to find a gun in this condition and with 5 original mags. I’m looking for a Glock long slide 10mm & I’ld consider silver/gold, maybe a new 4 wheeler.
